After much hard work and organization I am pleased to announce that the benefit compilation is available for you to donate and download. We ended up with 48 bands including nationally recognized bands like Dayna Kurtz, Rusted Root and Sean Kelly of The Samples, plus active bands with Indiana roots such as Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band and Neon Love Life. It's been great fun reconnecting with some of my old music friends in LA, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Austin, Nashville, Colorado, and everywhere in between. When I told them about the project, almost everyone jumped in with a song.

Music can heal. It happens everyday. I want to grow that power by removing the barriers between musicians, their audiences, and the change they want to create in the world.
There are so many bands and so many songs. In troubled times it is always the musicians I know who step up and lend their talents. But right now, putting together a benefit concert or compilation requires teams of people to plan logistics, pay for manufacturing, or shipping. Why not put music directly on the web where donations can instantly provide funds for healing?
Non-profit organizations are constantly challenged to do more with less. This program can help connect to new audiences without a strain on the overworked staff.
I am ready to partner with anyone with a need or desire to change the world. I believe in activism and engagement. I've spent my whole life trying to make the world a better place.

First I got the benefit done for the Indiana State Fair Collapse in 2011. But I am not done. As soon as we can, I'm going to put together a slightly different version to support the Occupy movement and call it Occupymp3. So if you have any protest songs that you think embody the cause, go ahead and email mp3's to pj@thepressa.com. I have a selection committee of sorts ready to select a song each day, then I will publicize it for free download, anyone who donates cash or contrbutes as an occupier. It's an honor system. But remember, liking something on Facebook is not engagement.
So the next priority is getting bands, supporters, and donors ready to help me make this dream a reality.

I have an outline of the project the way I see it. I have many, many other priorities I want to tackle in future benefits. And I want to put the plan that works out for others who want to duplicate it for themselves.
Thanks for your time in reading this, and if you can't help me today, but I have inspired you in some small way, that I am here for you too.
